Beef Chow Mein
Once you try this beef chow mein, you won’t even feel the need to order a takeaway. It’s just that good, and surprisingly easy to make! This recipe gives you the same great takeaway flavours, but in the comfort of your own home.
Tender steak stir fried with vegetables and noodles in a flavourful sauce. The combo of savoury meat, tender noodles and colourful vegetables just can’t be beaten.

Ingredients
- 2 Packs of Egg Noodles
- 1 Scotch Bonnet, chopped
- Small Broccoli Florets
- 1 White Onion
- Bunch of Bean Sprouts
- 1 tsp Garlic
- 1 tbsp Oil
- Handful of Chopped Spring Onion
- 1.5 tbsp Dark Soy Sauce
- 1 tbsp Light Soy Sauce
- 1/2 tbsp Oyster Sauce
- 1 tsp MSG
- 200g Beef, marinated in Light or Dark Soy Sauce
- 2/3 tsp Baking Powder (for the Beef)
- 1 tsp Cornflour (for the Beef)
- 1tsp Oyster Sauce (for the Beef)
- 1 tsp Dark Soy Sauce (for the Beef)
- 1/3 tsp MSG (for the Beef)
Steps
- Add the baking powder to the beef then mix and leave to rest for 45 minutes. Then rinse it off.
- Add the cornflour and the rest of the ingredients to the beef and leave for another 30 minutes.
- Heat the oil and fry the beef for 3 minutes.
- In the same pan add the onions, broccoli florets, garlic and scotch bonnet.
- Fry for 2 minutes and add the bean sprouts and egg noodles.
- Add the MSG and all the sauces and toss on a high heat for 1-2 minutes.
- Garnish with the spring onions.
